Spotify has built up its position in the podcast market in a fairly short time. They bought a podcast production site, several networks with already known and popular content, introduced adverts in a programmatic model, and in recent weeks signed an exclusive agreement with one of the most famous creators, Joe Rogan. This is to attract an even larger audience on Spotify, and of course stop them from using the large catalog of available podcasts.
A brave move and showing Spotify’s determination to master the podcast market, attract as many users as possible, and of course as many advertising budgets as possible. The question is how many listeners like how their favorite creator is taken from their favorite podcast application…
